New school year in Lorraine

Today is the start of the new school year in France. In Lorraine about 400,000 children and teenagers are concerned.

You can't ignore it. It is the main subject on radio and television. As it is a beautiful sunny day, I imagine quite a few pupils will regret their holidays.

In the village, school starts at 8.30 am and there is a break at about 10 am so I can hear the children playing and shouting in the schoolyard. It is so pleasant to hear their young voices. They have a lunch break from 11.30 am to 1.30 pm and go out at 4.30 pm. So parents are back to the routine to and back from school.

I remember the first day at school of my Older Son. He didn't say anything in the morning when I dropped him there (so my heart was not too much broken) but, after lunch at my parents', he didn't want to go back ! My mother had to drag him to the school door. My best friend's older son clung to both sides of their door ! A few years later it was different with our younger children, maybe they were used to see their brother going to school and understood it was their turn.

Ah, the good old times.
