White after Christmas in Lorraine

We didn't have a white Christmas in Lorraine, but nearly. The snow was one day late.

On Saturday it was snowing enough to stop drivers on the roads to the Vosges mountains. Our son was two hours and a half in his car instead of one hour to reach the south of the Vosges, and I was relieved when he phoned to say he had arrived. The "real" first day with snow is always difficult.

On Sunday morning, it was time to "enjoy" snow near Nancy. Snow shovel in one hand and brush for the car in the other hand, we stayed outside cleaning the pavement and preparing the car to go to the baker's. I had enough bread in the freezer but wanted Yule logs to have with the children at the end of our lunch. It was a bit unpleasant as it was windy but it was worth working to see the beautiful countryside afterwards.

The temperature went down little by little and, at 6 pm, the thermometer showed - 7° C (19° F)! Of course it was colder this morning, - 9° C (16° F) but it should improve in the coming days.

For the ones who know Lorraine, it is not surprising, but such a difference of temperatures in a few days is a bit difficult to take, even for the ones who were born here.

Are you still getting snow? I'm glad Geraud made it safe the news we had here was that it was really bad. Very difficult time but why does it seem so beautiful and pristine?

It is still cold, so white, but it is not snowing any more. We saw a comment on FB yesterday saying it was bad again in the south of the Vosges, but here it was improving.
