Beautiful lilac time

Each year I enjoy looking at lilac blooming and also smelling it

We have light purple, dark purple and white lilac around. The purple ones are the ones we see more. For all of them, the smell is so pleasant. It is very popular and used for perfume or soap.

Lilac is a "special" flower in my mind, something kept from the time I was a little girl. Each year, my grandmother received a bunch of lilac from one of her schoolfriends. They were the same age and each time he said "C'est pour ma conscrite." Conscrit, conscript in English, was the name given to young men of the same age who were going to the army at the same time. Little by little the word has also been used for girls, becoming conscrite, of the same age. So this old man was still offering lilac each year to his conscrite and so happy to do it. It was a good opportunity for them to have a long chat.

Lilac trees or bushes are common in Lorraine, withstanding cold winters and hot summers. They are easy to deal with and definitely a beautiful flower.
