New sculptures in Lunéville

The 7th symposium de la pierre was organized in Lunéville a few weeks ago. This time Gé Pellini worked with five other sculptors. Each had to create a sculpture linked to Voyages, Exils et Migrations (Trips, Exile and Migration).

When I saw the sculptures, I thought that there was a lack of inspiration. It is just my point of view. The artists had kept most of the shape of the stone after one week. There were not as many curves and holes as last year.

I chose the sculpture I preferred to take a picture. This character seems to be looking for a holiday trip or thinking about the home he has to leave or deciding where he has to go. I think this was the sculpture which let me imagine more easily what was the link with the theme of the symposium.

One sculptor told us that they are not allowed to use a disc stone cutting machine as there would be too much dust in the castle. So they use pneumatic chisels but it makes the work last longer than usual. It was an interesting conversation.

As last year sculptures were pleasant to look at and artists were as kind as last time, always willing to answer questions and explain about their work and the stone and tools they use.
