Carriage driving show in Lunéville
Last Sunday was the first time Lunéville organized a Concours International d'Attelage. It took place on the esplanade of the castle.
Four different categories of horses were making the show.
In the morning horses and carriages went around the countryside and had to execute five different orders before coming back to the castle.
In the afternoon they had to compete to show their manoeuvrability.
Even if people had never seen this sort of competition, a good presenter was giving all the explanations. He gave details about horses, carriages and harness. He was encouraging each team, congratulating them and also congratulating the spectators standing around the esplanade. And an adequate music was creating a pleasant atmosphere.
Lunéville used to be called la Cité cavalière, which we can translate either by " riders town" or maybe by "bridle town" as it was a place where several cavalry regiments were staying before WW1, so there were many horses all around the town.
A first carriage driving show in Lunéville and certainly a first success. And it was a sunny and warm day, the perfect weather for this sort of event.
